One Month Pictures

What a stud. He was nine pounds and 22 inches and growing fast. He is the sweetest little thing. Besides eating more during the night than the day he is wonderful and pleasant.

14 Days Old!

The time has flown by so quickly. I can't believe me baby is almost 3 weeks old already. His due date is this next weekend; that is too strange. I am so glad he is here though. Now I just get to worry about everything else. I don't know about all of you with boys but I think they are much harder than girls. This is a whole new experience for me. The whole diaper changing thing is crazy.

So, I was doing pretty good. He hadn't peed on me yet, he is 14 days old and no peeing, wow! Well, today he got me twice. Once this morning and then just a little while ago. What a stinker. I even had him covered with a wipe and it shot right off. I guess that is a really good sign though because I have been so stressed about his circumcision. Let me tell you how paranoid I am about this. This is a huge deal to me. I worry about everything though.

Anyway, he gained weight at his last visit on Friday. He isn't quite his birth weight but he did gain about 9 oz. since Mother's Day. He now weighs 7 lbs 13 oz. Other than his head he is still a tiny little squirt. I guess it is the Bott head because it is getting pretty big (not too big!)

These are just some cute picts of him chillin' that I've taken throughout the day on my phone. He is such a good baby. He just chills while I do homework. I think the most we've heard him cry was the car ride home yesterday. It was hot and miserable and he was sick of his car seat after a long 8 hour day to and from Spokane. I didn't blame him. It wasn't really crying though, more of whining, then sleeping and then a whale once or twice. He is such a good sleeper too. I hope this continues. It makes it so much easier to do homework. Sometimes I just lay him on my chest while I type away at the computer and he just snoozes the whole time. Other times he is just relaxing in his little bouncer. While I care for Kayden and do homework Isaac getst to hang out with Kaycee. It has been so nice with Isaac having vacation. He and Kaycee just go outside and play and hang out together. I'm glad that they have this time becuase once he starts clinics he won't have time to hang out with her as much.

Kayd is starting to move a lot more and hear and see. I can't get him to quit sitting up. He is as bad as his sister. They were lifting their heads and rolling over from day one. After he was born while we were in the hospital I would look over and he had rolled over with his head against the plastic on the bed. When Kaycee was about 2 weeks old we were moving from Cedar City. I was packing and laid her in the middle of our bed while I packed clothes, the television was on and as I looked over to check on Kaycee she rolled over and was staring at the television. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself.

Kayden lifts his head while I burp him and just stares at me. He rolls too. Last night I guess he was lonely because when I laid him in bed he was in the middle and when I checked on him a couple hours later he was up against the side of the bed, we even have the wedges around him that keep babies from rolling. So, when you see me and I am exhausted it is because I check on him every few minutes at night to make sure he isn't rolling over. Like I said, I worry too much!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

They tested Kayd's blood around 6AM and his levels dropped to 13 so we were able to take him out of the light bed. Now we are just waiting to see if his levels will stay normal. They will check his blood at noon and see if we can go home. It has been a different Mother's Day but it was nice because my mom stayed at the hospital with me and we were able to spend mother-daughter time together taking care of Kayden.

After playing Pretty Ponies with Kaycee and watching Scooby Doo with Grandma she was able to sneak away when Kayc decided she wanted her dad around 10PM. This morning Kaycee is hanging out with daddy and Uncle Nick.

I thought that I would get some rest while in the hospital; didn't work quite that way. I slept less. Because he was feeling better and dehydrated from the lights he ate almost every hour. It was worth it because he is doing much better. He is a cutie!

Back to The Hospital We Go.....

Poor little Kayden. He has had to be poked and paraded a few extra times this week and it has not been fun. His poor little feet have all these little cuts. He is a trooper. Yesterday he had a check up and was really yellow so they took his blood again and the bilirubin was a little high. Grandma has been noticed the jaundice a little more every day. It is a little difficult because he has Asian blood but I guess after having 5 children my mom would know the difference. She's a smarty.

They checked his blood yesterday and again today at the hospital. We were hoping it was lower, but it was really high. We were out celebrating Mother's Day when the doctor called and said we needed to get him to the hospital. I think it was 18 so we are back at the hospital. Kayden has to lay under an Ultra Bili Light. He LOVES it. He is chillin' in his little clothe sunglasses and relaxing in the rays.

For those of you who don't know what Jaundice is a simple meaning is: Yellowing of the skin, whites of the eyes (sclerae), and other tissues because of excessive bilirubin in the blood.

Kayden Isaac Bott

One Day Old

Kayden is doing well this morning. We had some difficulty last night getting him to keep anything down, but he is eating well now. Melanie is exhausted but is recovering well. We will be having a surprise party today for Kaycee so she can show off her new baby brother. She is so excited! We are doing well and will update later today.

KAYDEN ISAAC BOTT

After 12 hours of intense labor, Kayden finally decided it was time to be born. He was born at 1:34 PM. He weighs 7 lbs 15 oz and is 20 ½ inches long. He was born healthy and as his first mission was to get even with those that made him go through such a paradigm shift. He peed on the doctor first and then on the nurses (that is right – DUBS on the nurses!) We will update as we take more pictures!

Still Waiting!

Well, it is about 9:40AM and we are still waiting on Kayd. He is really close but not here. I was dialated to an 8 a couple hours ago. Hopefully he progresses a little faster. I am pretty groggy. It is hard to sleep in a hospital and it has been a long morning.

Uncle Nick is home with Kaycee. We all got here around 1AM and they went back home around 5AM. I am sure they are having a lot of fun and getting caught up on their sleep. Poor grandma (mom) on the other hand hasn't slept a wink. Hopefully he comes soon so she can get some rest.

It's Happening!

We came to the hospital this morning at 1:00 AM. Mel was dilated to a 5cm at that time. We are now just awaiting the arrival! Mel got an epidural about an hour ago and is feeling much better now. (perhaps too well!)
